About Us
NEST Maternity and Lactation is Airdrie’s local maternity clinic. Located on the 2nd floor of the Apple Wellness building, we offer maternity care from early pregnancy until 6 weeks PostPartum.
All of our Family Doctors specialize in obstetrics care and deliver at the nicely renovated Labour and Delivery Unit of Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary.
Our services include:
Maternity care throughout your entire pregnancy and delivery with our group at the Peter Lougheed. After birth, we follow both mother and baby until 6 weeks postpartum.
Lactation support. We support all modes of feeding and can help with latch, decreased milk production, bottle feeding, pumping, tongue tie frenotomies and more. These services are available to the entire community and not only those who have not been our maternity patients.
Birth Control including IUD insertions/removals and Nexplanon
Pap tests
Ask your Family Doctor to refer you. If you do not have a Family Doctor you may self refer. Please call the clinic to discuss. (Please note - we do not offer long term Family Medicine care).
Carennia
Unit Clerk
Carennia is the first person you will meet when you arrive at NEST. She was born in Jamaica and spent her childhood in BC. She enjoys camping with her two adventurous boys, painting and sewing. Carennia first joined us back in 2018 as one of NEST’s first patients!
Her love for babies soon brought her back to us as our warm, kindhearted and incredibly hard working unit clerk.
Dr. Katy Hicks
MD, CCFP
Katy completed medical school at U of A and Family Medicine Residency at U of C. She is an internationally certified lactation consultant and a proud mom and wife. She likes biking and singing loudly in her car.

Dr. Sarah Olesen
MD, CCFP
Sarah completed medical school at the U of C, and then a residency in Rural Family Medicine through U of A. She greatly enjoys working in women's health and has a special interest in lactation medicine. When not working, she spends time with her two kids, husband, and cat. She loves cooking good food, reading, and camping with her family. She speaks French and has a black belt in Karate.
Erin
Clinic Manager
Erin was born and raised in Airdrie and is the mother of three teens and 2 fur babies. She loves dogs and spending time with her family. She works diligently to ensure that NEST runs smoothly and efficiently. Our amazing Clinic Manager keeps us all organized - no small task!
Dr. Nicole LaBrie
MD, CCFP
Nicole completed medical school at Queen's in Kingston and Family Medicine Residency at U of C. She is fluent in French, a proud mom and loves to unwind with yoga. She is a big fan of raw food - including fish and meat! That was a challenge during her pregnancies.

Dr. Melissa Torriero
MD, FCFP
Melissa completed medical school at the U of C followed by a residency in Family and Aboriginal Medicine at UBC in Victoria, BC. She loves travelling, gardening, and has never returned home from the SPCA empty-handed!
